SIL Roster of Care tool template - not working

  • 1.  SIL Roster of Care tool template - not working

    Posted 24-01-2023 16:00
    Dear All

We are trying to use the current SIL Roster of Care tool (spreadsheet) from the NDIS website and when we enter support ratios it comes up with an error message saying something like "excel does not have enough resources to execute formulas".  Are others having this issue and does anyone have a work around?  (I have sent enquiry to agency as well but thinking the reply may take some time).

    Thanks, regards
    Mark

    Hi Mark,

We were having the same problem, our IT support person spoke to someone at the NDIS who I think believed it was a problem at our end.  Our IT person made some modifications to the template, which seemed to have worked.  We have houses of varying sizes, I noticed you get the error message when you are adding data for more than 4-5 Residents on the one spreadsheet.  Sounds like it's a problem at the NDIS end.  I'd suggest the NDS raise this.

This is an ongoing issue.  When you call NDIS the explanation is that you need to get your IT involved to rectify this.  IT has informed us that it is a Template issue not an IT issue.

    Hi Sarah,

Can the NDS please make contact on behalf of providers re the problem with the SIL ROC many of us are facing:

We are trying to use the current SIL Roster of Care tool (spreadsheet) from the NDIS website and when we enter support ratios it comes up with an error message saying something like "excel does not have enough resources to execute formulas".  Are others having this issue and does anyone have a work around?  (I have sent enquiry to agency as well but thinking the reply may take some time).

We all get the same response, the problem is at our end, when it's clear it's a problem with the template.

Thanks Peter - yes I second this.

Hi Sarah, if NDS can help that would be much appreciated.  I tried calling NDIS about it yesterday because I have not heard back from my email to thier enquiries@ndis address -  the NDIS staff who answered from the provider helpline did not know what the "SIL roster of care template" even was and could not put me through to anyone else for assistance!

Hi to those who are having problems with the template. I spoke with my contact in the NDIA and If I can get a screen shot of the template in the area you are having problems with and a second shot with the message etc They will take it up the chain to be looked at. My email is Mark.Kulinski@claust.com.au
    Regards

    Hi Mark/Team,

We have homes of various sizes, what I've found the problem only occurs for the ROCs with more than 4 Residents listed on it.  This may be worth sharing with the NDIS.

The Tool they have made has been full of bugs for years.
We have pivoted to using only a program of supports that outlines the number of 1:1, 2:2, etc. hours and all other hours are set at the base house ratio. It is no longer worth the energy to try to do the hour for hour relative ratios based on other client programs of support.
The NDIA is back to looking less at the RoCs and more at the FCAs that need to explicitly articulate the number of 1:1 and 2:1 hours and the risk/consequences for the participant if they do not receive the individualised supports.
Attached is a snapshot of what we use. We then also have a column for our actual costs including current award rates and corporate on costs to determine our "keep the lights on" value that informs which plans we can tolerate and which must be fought.
