What internal audits do you do in your organisation?

We complete a self-assessment using the NDIS Practice Standards. Keen to see what others are doing :)

    Each house coordinator completes a self-assessment –

Medication profile against medication webster pack

If we have CMI for each medication

    Medication sign-in sheet

Each client's health professional plans are on dates

    Restrictive practices

Monthly WHS, Food safety checks, and fire drills are completed

Staff meetings are conducted every 4-6 months, and do they have the meeting mins and all

    PCP

Risk assessment for each client and ….........

Once a self-assessment is completed – someone from the internal audit team or manager will conduct an internal audit.

Typically goes up to 5-6 hrs.

As a suggestion, internal audits should be aligned to, Service quality, Risk and Compliance at a minimum.

Service quality should take input from clients, families, staff and other stakeholders including funding bodies (where relevant ), analysis of feedback, incidents, staff training completion.

Risk should look at risk readiness or compliance with risk plans/mitigation strategies at all levels of the organisation including participant risk, corporate risk, financial risk, data risk, emergency and disaster risk

Compliance should look at meeting requirements of  internal policy, funding body/ program guidelines and industry requirements ,ISO, NDIS, NSDS. ACIS

Spread across the year (or even a two year schedule to spread the load). You may need to prioritise annually vs bi-annually.

    Hope this helps
