    How long do you believe the same Support Workers should stay with the one client? In other words, is it healthy for workers to stay with a client for a long period of time?

    Hi,  
    From my perspective it really depends on the participant. They have choice and control. They should be deciding who supports them.  The situation can become unhealthy , however for the most part i have seen the participant is comfortable as the support worker knows the client well, knows routines etc.

    I know of support workers being with same participant 5 years or more . it provides stability for the participant , and the worker.

    This is a great question. I think it highlights the responsibility of the worker to reflect on the relationship they have with their participant to identify whether their boundaries are still clear and professional and whether they are still the best person for the role. 
    There is no time period, but if at any stage the relationship has changed the value of support it may be time to move on.

    Yes great question. No simple answer as often the case. As Nicole said it's definitely the responsibility of the worker to reflect on the relationship and quality of support being given at any point in time. I have had great experience with getting to know a participant well over time but there does come a point where both worker and participant will benefit from a change.

    There is no limit so long as one knows and respects the boundaries between the client and employee, the do and don ts.
