Hi Paula, I would suggest any organisation which is primarily a support provider should think carefully about moving into the provision of SDA housing. It is a specialised area in terms of the investment, development, and tenancy management perspectives. Importantly, the NDIS has been quite clear that in the long term the separation of housing and supports are the goal. While it is possible to deliver both, with "internal separation" ultimately the benefits for participants in having a separate SDA provider and support provider are quite significant in terms of protection, rights, choice and control. Currently the SDA pricing and the whims of both the property and construction markets are making it very hard for SDA providers to make the dollars work, another consideration.
