How are providers supporting aging parents through NDIS processes?

Hi Lisa, a really good question. The most difficult thing to work around that I've found is carer fatigue and building the circle of support around the person with a disability and their family members. Also doing all the leg work with and sometimes for ageing parents. Obviously this comes at an organisational cost but as For Purpose Organisations we just do it. I think learning new systems is hard for anyone to grasp but in the main I've found carers just want the end support and have little desire to fully understand the how and why. In the end it just takes time. At Community Living Australia we have had to invest into providing a team of staff that work through the process with family and support coordinators etc, that way people clearly understand what the can afford compared to what they need and where to go to from there. (some heavy coaching)
